Yes. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is suitable for beginners of all ages and fitness levels. Our Adults NoGi Beginners class is specifically designed for people who have never stepped on a mat before — no pressure, no expectations, just foundational technique in a welcoming environment.
No. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone, regardless of current fitness level. You'll get in shape by training — that's part of the appeal. We regularly see new students drop weight, build mobility, and feel stronger within their first 90 days.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes technique and control, not brute force — which is a big reason the injury rate is lower than most team sports. We teach tapping early and often: if something hurts, you tap, your partner lets go, you reset. That's the whole game.
Absolutely. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches effective self-defense techniques for individuals of all sizes and strengths. NoGi in particular is closer to how real-world situations play out — no gi grips to rely on, just leverage, timing, and body control.
You'll start with a light warm-up, learn foundational techniques alongside the class, and drill them with a partner in a welcoming environment. You won't be thrown into live rolling on day one — we build up to it. Expect to leave tired, a little sore the next day, and curious enough to come back.
Athletic shorts without zippers or pockets (those can cut fingers), and a rashguard or fitted t-shirt. No shoes on the mats. If you don't have a rashguard yet, a fitted athletic shirt works for your first few classes.

Yes. We have kids classes for ages 3 and up, grouped by age for a safe and age-appropriate experience. Our kids program focuses on self-defense, fitness, confidence, and fun — and your child's first class is free too.
